CLARKSBURG WATER AND SEWER PROJECT UPDATES

Weekly update from Bobby Tenney (Senior Project Representative) on the Clarksburg Water Board (CWB) and Clarksburg Sanitary Board (CSB) Projects:

This is the update for the week of 6/23– 6/27 and the schedule for the week of 6/30.

NORTH VIEW AREA - CWB

CONTRACT NO. 1 - BEAR CONTRACTING

The contractor continued laying the new water line on 14th Street to George Avenue to the north and towards Alpha Avenue to the south. The new water line on West Virginia Avenue that was to be tied into the existing line on 13th Street has been delayed due to a leaking valve on the existing main line. The new line on 13th Street is going to be extended to include replacing that valve. Sections of 14th Street will be closed to traffic Monday-Friday during working hours, and the intersection of 13th Street and West Virginia Avenue may see some delays Monday-Friday also. The contractor plans to continue with the new line on 14th Street to Alpha Avenue and 14th Street to Franklin Avenue over the next few weeks. NO PARKING signs will be placed in the sections where the contractor is planning to work; please find alternate parking during working hours. If you need access to your driveway, please speak to the contractor on-site.

Fire and EMS access to 14th Street will be restricted from West Virginia Avenue to Goff Avenue and from West Virginia Avenue to Alpha Avenue. No flaggers are in place on this project.

HARTLAND/STEALEY AREA - CWB

CONTRACT NO. 2 - DOSS ENTERPRISES

The contractor continued laying a new 6” water line on Magnolia Avenue towards Reynolds Street and started making customer service connections on Verdun Street and South Alexander Avenue. This coming week, the contractor will be making asphalt trench repairs on Verdun Street, South Alexander Avenue, Hartland Avenue, and Magnolia Avenue, and also saw cutting on Magnolia Avenue between Traction Street and Reynold Street. NO PARKING signs will be placed in the areas of the paving work a day ahead of starting on that section. Please find alternate parking during the posted work hours. If your vehicle is parked in the work zone, it will be towed to a safe location if you cannot be located. If you need access to your driveway, please speak to the contractor onsite.

Fire and EMS service to the Lower Hartland area should not be affected, though Magnolia Avenue will be closed between Reynold and Traction Streets. Flaggers are set up in the work area to allow local traffic to enter and exit.

CHESTNUT HILLS / KRAMER DRIVE - CWB

CONTRACT NO. 3 - D&M CONTRACTING

The contractor has moved on to another project until the materials for the Chestnut Hills portion of the project arrive. It is anticipated that the materials will arrive sometime in late August to early September.

DOWNTOWN AREA - CWB

CONTRACT NO. 4W - INDEPENDENT ENTERPRISES

The contractor completed the new main line on 2nd Street from Main Street to Traders Alley this week. The main water line connections to Kelly Street, Brown Street, Joyce Street, and Charleston Avenue were also completed this week. The contractor is scheduled to start removing the temporary trench asphalt and installing the permanent asphalt in the trenches along East Pike and East Main Street next week.

Fire and EMS service along East Pike and East Main Streets should not be affected, and one lane of traffic will be controlled by flaggers.

DOWNTOWN AREA (WEST END) - CSB

CONTRACT NO. 4S - INDEPENDENT CONTRACTING

The contractor continued the installation of the new sanitary sewer system along with the new storm system near Hartland Planning Mill this week. For the upcoming week, work will continue on the new sanitary sewer and storm system from the Pike and Main Streets split and onto West Main Street.

Fire and EMS service in the west end of Pike Street should not be affected, though traffic may be congested at times.
