Weekly update from Bobby Tenney (Senior Project Representative) on the Clarksburg Water Board (CWB) and Clarksburg Sanitary Board (CSB) Projects:

This is the update for the week of 6/16– 6/20 and the schedule for the week of 6/23.

NORTH VIEW AREA - CWB

CONTRACT NO. 1 - BEAR CONTRACTING

The contractor continued laying the new water line on 14th Street to Hamill Avenue. The new water line on West Virginia Avenue was tested/disinfected and will be tied into the existing line on 13th Street this coming week. Sections of 14th Street will be closed to traffic Monday–Friday during working hours, and the intersection of 13th and West Virginia Avenue may see some delays Monday during the tie-in. The contractor plans to continue with the new line on 14th Street to Alpha Avenue and 14th Street to Franklin Avenue over the next few weeks. NO PARKING signs will be placed in the sections where the contractor is planning to work; please find alternate parking during working hours. If you need access to your driveway, please speak to the contractor onsite.

Fire and EMS access to 14th Street will be restricted between West Virginia Avenue and Goff Avenue. No flaggers are in place on this project.

HARTLAND/STEALEY AREA - CWB

CONTRACT NO. 2 - DOSS ENTERPRISES

The contractor’s schedule was affected by the weather this week, but they continued laying new 6” water line on Magnolia Avenue towards Reynolds Street. The work schedule for the upcoming week is to continue installing the new 6” water line on Magnolia Avenue towards Milford Street and to start making customer service connections and trench repairs on Lower Hartland Avenue, Verdun Street, and South Alexander Avenue. Customers will be notified by the Resident Project Representative before their water is turned off to make the new connection. NO PARKING signs will be placed in the sections where the contractor is planning to work; please find alternate parking during working hours. If you need access to your driveway, please speak to the contractor onsite.

Fire and EMS service to the Lower Hartland area should not be affected, though Magnolia Avenue will be closed between Reynolds and Traction Streets. Flaggers are set up in the work area to allow local traffic to enter and exit.

ARMORY ROAD - CWB

CONTRACT NO. 3 - D&M CONTRACTING

The contractor has moved on to another project until the materials for the Chestnut Hills portion of the project arrive. It is anticipated that the materials will arrive sometime in late August to early September.

DOWNTOWN AREA - CWB

CONTRACT NO. 4W - INDEPENDENT ENTERPRISES

The contractor continued installing the new customer service connections along East Pike Street from Oak Street to South Park Avenue. The new 16” main water line on Main Street from the State Building/DMV towards 2nd Street was completed this week. The schedule for the upcoming week is to complete the new main water line tie-in at the Main/2nd Street intersection and start the new main line on 2nd Street towards Traders Alley. While the work is being completed on 2nd Street, access from the Pike Street end will be maintained to Traders Alley. The main water line connections to Kelley Street, Brown Street, Joyce Street, and Charleston Avenue will also be completed this coming week. The Clarksburg Water Board has notified customers in the affected areas as to when their water will be off during the tie-ins.

Fire and EMS service to the streets off East Pike Street, where the tie-ins are being done, will be affected this coming week. The work at the Main/Pike Street intersection will only affect one lane on Main Street, but Pike Street will be closed at the Main Street end. Flaggers will be on site to help with rerouting service.

DOWNTOWN AREA (NEAR WENDY'S) - CSB

The contractor continued the installation of the new sanitary sewer system along with the new storm system near McDonald's this week. For the upcoming week, work will continue on the new sanitary sewer and storm system along West Pike Street from McDonald’s towards the Pike and Main Streets split.
