Weekly update from Bobby Tenney (Senior Project Representative) on the Clarksburg Water Board (CWB) and Clarksburg Sanitary Board (CSB) Projects:
This is the update for the week of 7/28 – 8/1 and the schedule for the week of 8/4.
NORTH VIEW AREA – CWB
CONTRACT NO. 1 - BEAR CONTRACTING
The contractor completed the new main water line on 15th Street from Hamill Avenue to West Virginia Avenue, as well as the new main line on West Virginia Avenue from 14th Street to 15th Street. The contractor has started to receive the new meter services and has begun installing those along 14th Street. The contractor plans to continue with the new line on West Virginia Avenue and 15th Street between Hamill Avenue and Goff Avenue.
NO PARKING signs will be placed in the sections where the contractor is planning to work. Please find alternate parking during the posted working hours. Any vehicle parked in the work zone will be towed to a safe location if the owner cannot be located. If you need access to your driveway, please speak to the contractor onsite.
The contractor will have 15th Street closed from Hamill Avenue to George Avenue this coming week, and West Virginia Avenue from 15th to 17th Street will be one lane or closed completely with a detour in place, Monday to Thursday from 7 am to 6 pm.
Fire and EMS access – 15th Street will be closed from Hamill Avenue to George Avenue, and West Virginia Avenue will be closed intermittently from 15th to 17th Street this coming week.
HARTLAND AND STEALEY AREAS – CWB
CONTRACT NO. 2 - DOSS ENTERPRISES
The contractor continued making customer service connections on Magnolia Avenue, as well as installing the new main water line on Magnolia Avenue. The schedule for the upcoming week is to continue with customer service connections on Magnolia Avenue and to continue the new main water line on Magnolia Avenue out to Milford Street. NO PARKING signs will be placed in the sections the contractor is planning to work; please find alternate parking during the posted work hours. Any vehicle parked in the work zone will be towed to a safe location if the owner cannot be located. If you need access to your driveway, please speak to the contractor onsite.
The contractor will have Magnolia Avenue closed from Milford Street to Reynolds Street, except for local residents, this coming week from Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 6 pm.
Fire and EMS service to the Lower Hartland area should not be affected, though Magnolia Avenue will be closed between Milford Street and Reynolds Street. Flaggers are set up in the work area to allow local traffic to enter and exit.
CHESTNUT HILLS (KRAMER DRIVE) – CWB
CONTRACT NO. 3 - D&M CONTRACTING
The contractor will begin work on Monday, August 4th, at the intersection of Hayes and Chestnut Streets.
The contractor will have Hayes Street closed from Chestnut Street to Kramer Drive, Monday to Thursday, during working hours. Residents will need to use an alternate route.
Fire and EMS services can access the upper half of Hayes Street via the north end of Kramer Drive.
DOWNTOWN AREA - CWB
CONTRACT NO. 4W - INDEPENDENT ENTERPRISES
The contractor completed the tie-in at the intersection of Clay Street and East Main Street this week and also completed a large portion of trench repairs along East Pike Street. The schedule for the upcoming week is to install the new main water line on Oak Street from East Pike Street to East Main Street.
The following streets will be closed this week: Oak Street from East Main Street to East Pike Street, Monday to Friday from 7 am to 6 pm.
Fire and EMS service to Oak Street will be limited to one lane and controlled by flaggers.
DOWNTOWN AREA (WEST END) – CSB
CONTRACT NO. 4S - INDEPENDENT CONTRACTING
The contractor continued with the installation of the new sanitary sewer system along with the new storm system along West Main Street. The bypass pump is still in use and has been relocated to allow for the crossover between West Main and West Pike Streets to be opened. Sumner Street will remain closed until the new line is laid.
For the upcoming week, work will continue on the new sanitary sewer and storm system from Ferry Street towards Chestnut Street on West Main Street.
Due to the installation of the bypass pump, West Main Street will remain one lane, and Sumner Street will remain closed.
Fire and EMS service in the West End of Pike and Main Streets should not be affected, though traffic may be congested at times.
