Project Updates - August 18

Weekly update from Bobby Tenney (Senior Project Representative) on the Clarksburg Water Board (CWB) and Clarksburg Sanitary Board (CSB) Projects:

This is the update for the week of 8/11- 8/15 and the schedule for the week of 8/18.

NORTH VIEW AREA – CWB

CONTRACT NO. 1 - BEAR CONTRACTING

The contractor completed the new main water line on 15th Street from Hamill Avenue to George Avenue, as well as the new main line on West Virginia Avenue from 15th Street to 16th Street. The contractor is installing the new meter services and patching the gravel trenches with asphalt along 14th Street. The contractor plans to continue with the new line on West Virginia Avenue and will complete the new meter services along 14th Street. The new main water line is also being installed on Pride Avenue between 14th and 12th Streets and 13th Street between George and Goff Avenues.

NO PARKING signs will be placed in the sections the contractor is planning to work. Please find alternate parking during the posted working hours. If your vehicle is parked in the work zone, it will be towed to a safe location if you cannot be located. If you need access to your driveway, please speak to the contractor onsite.

The contractor will have West Virginia Avenue from 16th to 17th Street restricted to one lane or closed completely with a detour in place. Also, 14th Street will have sections closed for new meter service connections, Monday to Thursday from 7 am to 6 pm.

Fire and EMS service – West Virginia Avenue will be closed intermittently from 16th Street to 17th Street this coming week.

HARTLAND AND STEALEY AREAS – CWB

CONTRACT NO. 2 - DOSS ENTERPRISES

The contractor continued installing the new main water line on Liberty Avenue and pressure testing the new main line on Magnolia Avenue this week. The schedule for the upcoming week is to continue with customer service connections on Magnolia Avenue and to continue the new main water line on Liberty Avenue from Reynolds Street to Traction Street.

NO PARKING signs will be placed in the sections the contractor is planning to work. Please find alternate parking during the posted work hours. If your vehicle is parked in the work zone, it will be towed to a safe location if you cannot be located. If you need access to your driveway, please speak to the contractor on-site.

The contractor will have Liberty Ave closed from Reynolds Street to Traction Street, except for local residents, this coming week from 7 am to 6 pm.

Fire and EMS service to the Lower Hartland area should not be affected, though Liberty Avenue will be closed between Reynolds Street and Traction Street. Flaggers are set up in the work area to allow local traffic to enter and exit.

CHESTNUT HILLS (KRAMER DRIVE) – CWB

CONTRACT NO. 3 - D&M CONTRACTING

The contractor completed the new 24” main water line on Hayes Street and started out on Kramer Drive. The schedule for the upcoming week is to continue the new 24” main line on Kramer Drive.

NO PARKING signs will be placed in the sections the contractor is planning to work. Please find alternate parking during the posted work hours. If your vehicle is parked in the work zone, it will be towed to a safe location if you cannot be located. If you need access to your driveway, please speak to the contractor on-site.

The contractor will have Kramer Drive closed on the Hayes Street end this week, Monday to Thursday, during working hours. Residents will need to use an alternate route.

Fire and EMS service can access Kramer Drive from the north end of Chestnut Street.

DOWNTOWN AREA - CWB

CONTRACT NO. 4W - INDEPENDENT ENTERPRISES

The contractor completed the new main water line on Monticello Avenue between East Pike and East Main Streets. The new meter services along East Main Street from Wood Avenue to Harrison Street were completed, and customers were hooked into the new water line.

The schedule for the upcoming week is to continue the new service connections along East Main Street and make the tie-ins at Wood and Harrison Streets.

The following streets will be one lane or closed this week: East Main Street from Harrison Street to Marshall Street will be one lane Monday to Friday, Wood Street will be closed between Buckhannon Avenue and Stanley Avenue Monday to Wednesday, and Harrison Street will be closed between East Main and Buckhannon Avenue Thursday and Friday.

Fire and EMS service should not be affected; traffic will be controlled by flaggers.

DOWNTOWN AREA (WEST END) – CSB

CONTRACT NO. 4S - INDEPENDENT CONTRACTING

The contractor continued with the installation of the new sanitary sewer system along with the new storm system along West Main Street. Sumner Street will remain closed until the new line is laid.

For the upcoming week, work will continue on the new sanitary sewer and storm system from Sumner Street towards Chestnut Street on West Main Street and on West Pike Street from the wye to Sumner Street.

West Main Street will remain one lane from Ferry Street to Chestnut Street; Sumner Street will remain closed, and West Pike will be one lane from Sumner Street to McDonald's.

Fire and EMS service in the West End of Pike and Main Streets should not be affected, though traffic may be congested at times.
