CLARKSBURG WATER AND SEWER PROJECT UPDATES
Weekly update from Bobby Tenney (Senior Project Representative) on the Clarksburg Water Board (CWB) and Clarksburg Sanitary Board (CSB) Projects:
This is the update for the week of 4/21 – 4/25 and the schedule for the week of 4/28.
NORTH VIEW AREA - CWB
CONTRACT NO. 1 - BEAR CONTRACTING
No work scheduled until June.
HARTLAND/STEALEY AREA - CWB
CONTRACT NO. 2 - DOSS ENTERPRISES
The contractor continued working on installing the new 6” water line around Verdun Street and South Alexander Avenue. The work schedule for the upcoming week is to continue installing the new 6” water line on South Alexander Avenue and Verdun Street.
Fire and EMS service to Verdun Street and South Alexander Avenue should not be affected, these are dead-end streets. Flaggers are setup in the work area to allow local traffic to enter and exit.
ARMORY ROAD - CWB
CONTRACT NO. 3 - D&M CONTRACTING
This week the contractor finished tying in the new water line to the existing lines and connected all the customer services to the new water line. For the upcoming week, the contractor plans on completing the restoration of the disturbed areas and paving the roadway crossing trenches. This will complete the work on Armory Road, except for the pavement overlay in the area of the roadway crossings, this will take place later this summer when the contractor returns to perform some work in Chestnut Hills.
Fire and EMS service to Armory Road will not be affected.
DOWNTOWN AREA - CWB
CONTRACT NO. 4W - INDEPENDENT CONTRACTING
This week the contractor worked on tying the new water line into the existing water line at Brown, Kelly, Cherry, and Harrison Streets. Several new fire hydrants were also installed along the new water line. The contractor also made repairs to the trenches along Main and Pike Streets from Monticello Ave to Rt. 20. The work schedule for next week will be to start filling and testing the new main water line along Pike Street. Once the testing is completed, the new customer service connections will begin.
Fire and EMS service to the streets off of Pike Street could be affected this coming week. Only one street at a time will be impacted and flaggers will be on site to help with rerouting service.
DOWNTOWN AREA (NEAR WENDY'S) - CSB
CONTRACT NO. 4S - INDEPENDENT CONTRACTING
The contractor completed the repairs to the subsurface issues at the intersection of Rt. 20 and Rt. 19. Work continued on the installation of the new sanitary sewer system, with new manholes and main sanitary lines being installed. For the upcoming week, work will continue on the new sanitary sewer system along West Pike Street.
Fire and EMS service in the west end of Pike Street should not be affected, though traffic may be congested at times.
