Weekly update from Bobby Tenney (Senior Project Representative) on the Clarksburg Water Board (CWB) and Clarksburg Sanitary Board (CSB) Projects:
This is the update for the week of 8/4 – 8/8 and the schedule for the week of 8/11.
NORTH VIEW AREA – CWB
CONTRACT NO. 1 - BEAR CONTRACTING
The contractor continued the new main water line on 15th Street from Hamill Avenue to George Avenue, as well as the new main line on West Virginia Avenue from 15th Street to 16th Street. The contractor has started to install the new meter services and patch the gravel trenches with asphalt. The contractor plans to continue with the new line on West Virginia Avenue and will be installing new meter services along 14th Street.
NO PARKING signs will be placed in the sections where the contractor plans to work. Please find alternate parking during the posted working hours. Any vehicle parked in the work zone will be towed to a safe location if the owner cannot be located. If you need access to your driveway, please speak to the contractor onsite.
The contractor will have West Virginia Avenue from 15th Street to 17th Street restricted to one lane or closed completely with a detour in place, also 14th Street will have sections closed for new meter service connections, Monday to Thursday from 7 am to 6 pm.
Fire and EMS can access West Virginia Avenue, but will be closed intermittently from 15th Street to 17th Street this coming week.
HARTLAND AND STEALEY AREAS – CWB
CONTRACT NO. 2 - DOSS ENTERPRISES
The contractor continued installing the new main water line on Magnolia Avenue. The schedule for the upcoming week is to continue with customer service connections on Magnolia Avenue and to continue the new main water line on Liberty Avenue from Reynolds Street to Traction Street.
NO PARKING signs will be placed in the sections where the contractor plans to work. Please find alternate parking during the posted working hours. Any vehicle parked in the work zone will be towed to a safe location if the owner cannot be located. If you need access to your driveway, please speak to the contractor onsite.
The contractor will have Liberty Avenue closed from Milford Street to Traction Street on Monday and from Reynolds Street to Traction Street on Tuesday-Friday, except for local residents, this coming week from 7 am to 6 pm.
Fire and EMS service can access Lower Hartland area should not be affected, though Liberty Avenue will be closed between Milford Street and Traction Street. Flaggers are set up in the work area to allow local traffic to enter and exit.
CHESTNUT HILLS (KRAMER DRIVE) – CWB
CONTRACT NO. 3 - D&M CONTRACTING
The contractor completed the tie-in of the new 24” main water line to the existing water line at the intersection of Hayes Street and Chestnut Street. The schedule for the upcoming week is to continue the new 24” main line on Hayes Street to Kramer Drive. Depending on the progress, the new line on Kramer Drive may also be started.
NO PARKING signs will be placed in the sections where the contractor plans to work. Please find alternate parking during the posted working hours. Any vehicle parked in the work zone will be towed to a safe location if the owner cannot be located. If you need access to your driveway, please speak to the contractor onsite.
The contractor will have Hayes Street closed from Chestnut Street to Kramer Drive, Monday to Thursday, during working hours. Residents will need to use an alternate route.
Fire and EMS service can access the upper half of Hayes Street via the North end of Kramer Drive.
DOWNTOWN AREA - CWB
CONTRACT NO. 4W - INDEPENDENT ENTERPRISES
The contractor completed the new main water line on South Oak Street from East Pike Street to East Main Street. The new meter services along East Main Street from Wood Avenue to Harrison Street were completed, and customers were hooked into the new water line. All of the trenches along East Pike Street from Minard’s to Monticello Avenue have had the permanent asphalt trench repair completed. The schedule for the upcoming week is to install the new main water line on Monticello Avenue from East Pike Street to East Main Street. The new service connections along East Main Street will also continue.
The following streets will be one lane this week: Monticello Avenue from East Pike Street to East Main Street and East Main Street from Harrison Street to Marshall Street, Monday to Friday from 7 am to 6 pm.
Fire and EMS services should not be affected only in the areas controlled by flaggers.
DOWNTOWN AREA (WEST END) – CSB
CONTRACT NO. 4S - INDEPENDENT CONTRACTING
The contractor continued with the installation of the new sanitary sewer system along with the new storm system along West Main Street. The bypass pump is still in use and has been relocated to allow for the crossover between West Main and West Pike Streets to be opened. Sumner Street will remain closed until the new line is laid.
For the upcoming week, work will continue on the new sanitary sewer and storm system from Sumner Street towards Chestnut Street on West Main Street.
West Main Street will remain one lane from Ferry Street to Chestnut Street, and Sumner Street will remain closed.
Fire and EMS service in the West End of Pike and Main Streets should not be affected, though traffic may be congested at times.
