Weekly update from Bobby Tenney (Senior Project Representative) on the Clarksburg Water Board (CWB) and Clarksburg Sanitary Board (CSB) Projects: This is the update for the week of 4/14 – 4/18 and the schedule for the week of 4/21.
NORTH VIEW AREA - CWB
CONTRACT NO. 1 - BEAR CONTRACTING
No work scheduled until June.
HARTLAND/STEALEY AREA - CWB
CONTRACT NO. 2 - DOSS ENTERPRISES
The contractor worked on installing the new 6” water line in the area of Verdun Street and South Alexander Street. A representative from the City of Clarksburg is asking that the trench on Riverside Drive be straightened up before placing the concrete repair, so that has delayed the patching in that area. The work schedule for the upcoming week is to continue installing the new 6” water line on South Alexander and Verdun.
Fire and EMS service to Verdun Street and South Alexander should not be affected, these are dead-end streets. Flaggers are setup in the work area to allow local traffic to enter and exit.
ARMORY ROAD - CWB
CONTRACT NO. 3 - D&M CONTRACTING
This week the contractor worked on connecting the customers on Armory Road to the new water line. For the upcoming week, the contractor plans on completing the line testing and service connections.
Fire and EMS service to Armory Road will not be affected.
DOWNTOWN AREA - CWB
CONTRACT NO. 4W - INDEPENDENT CONTRACTING
This week work continued on East Main Street from Harrison Street to Rt 20. The new main water line still needs to be installed in the intersection of East Main Street and Rt 20, that work will need to be scheduled for night time. The work schedule for next week will be to install the remaining fire hydrants on the main water line along Main and Pike Streets. The contractor is also planning to start making service connections to the main water line along Main and Pike Streets.
Fire and EMS service to the streets off of Main and Pike Streets could be affected this coming week. Only one street at a time will be impacted and flaggers will be on site to help with rerouting service.
DOWNTOWN AREA (NEAR WENDY'S) - CSB
CONTRACT NO. 4S - INDEPENDENT CONTRACTING
The contractor and representatives from the Clarksburg Public Works Department discovered a large void under the intersection of Rt 20 and Rt 19 that required some extensive extra work and a total road closure of the west side of the triangle. While making the repairs to the storm line that caused the void, a 12” water main that was being worked around and temporary supported split open. Repairs were made to the water line and the new sewer manhole was installed and the line tied into the existing system. The area of the excavation was backfilled with several hundred yards of flowable fill, at the direction of the WVDOH. Due to the backfill material used; the area will remain closed over the weekend while the material cures. Independent Enterprises will continue to install new sanitary and storm lines in this area next week.
Fire and EMS service in the West End of Pike Street should not be affected, though traffic may be congested at times. The contractor has increased the number of flaggers on site to help with the traffic flow.
