CLARKSBURG WATER AND SEWER PROJECT UPDATES
Weekly update from Bobby Tenney (Senior Project Representative) on the Clarksburg Water Board (CWB) and Clarksburg Sanitary Board (CSB) Projects: This is the update for the week of 4/28 – 5/2 and the schedule for the week of 5/5.
NORTH VIEW AREA - CWB
CONTRACT NO. 1 - BEAR CONTRACTING
Will begin setting up their storage yard and receiving materials week of 5/5.
HARTLAND/STEALEY AREA - CWB
CONTRACT NO. 2 - DOSS ENTERPRISES
The contractor continued working on installing the new 6” water line along Verdun Street to Hartland Avenue. The work schedule for the upcoming week is to continue installing the new 6” water line on Verdun Street to the corner of Magnolia Ave. The contractor will also begin testing the line previously installed on Verdun Street and begin service connections.
Fire and EMS service to Verdun Street and South Alexander should not be affected, these are dead-end streets. Flaggers are setup in the work area to allow local traffic to enter and exit.
ARMORY ROAD - CWB
CONTRACT NO. 3 - D&M CONTRACTING
The contractor has completed installing the new water line and service connections along Armory Road. The disturbed areas have been seeded and mulched and any existing fire hydrants, valves and meter pits have been demolished. The contractor has placed the base asphalt where the existing was removed for the water line installation and the top course will be added within the next 2 weeks. This will complete the work at this time and the contractor will return later this summer to start the work in Chestnut Hills.
Fire and EMS service to Armory Road will not be affected.
DOWNTOWN AREA - CWB
CONTRACT NO. 4W - INDEPENDENT CONTRACTING
The contractor installed new water line in preparation for the tie ins along Main and Pike Streets. Previously installed fire hydrants, that were too low, had extensions added to bring them up to grade. The new 12” water line from Linden Avenue to the area near Minard’s was tested and disinfected in preparation for the new service connections. The contractor began those service connections on Thursday and Friday, this work will continue next week on East Pike Street from Kelly Street towards Linden Avenue.
Fire and EMS service to the streets off East Pike Street could be affected this coming week. Only one street at a time will be impacted and flaggers will be on site to help with rerouting service.
DOWNTOWN AREA (NEAR WENDY'S) - CSB
CONTRACT NO. 4S - INDEPENDENT CONTRACTING
The contractor continued the installation of the new sanitary sewer system, with new manholes and main sanitary lines being installed. For the upcoming week, work will continue on the new sanitary sewer system along West Pike Street in the area from Wendy’s to O’Reilly Auto Parts.
Fire and EMS service in the West End of Pike Street should not be affected, though traffic may be congested at times.
